Overview
Trezor Bridge runs in the background and provides a stable, encrypted channel for desktop apps (like Trezor Suite and compatible wallets) to discover and interact with your Trezor device over USB. It removes the need for browser-based USB access by exposing a secure local HTTP API to trusted applications.
Key Features
1
Secure Communication
Encrypted local channel between apps and your Trezor device; only trusted applications may talk to the Bridge.
2
Cross-platform
Available for Windows, macOS and Linux (AppImage / .deb / .rpm) with small resource footprint.
3
Automatic Updates
Optional auto-update mechanism to keep the Bridge secure and compatible with latest Trezor firmware and apps.
4
Compatibility
Works with Trezor Suite and many third-party wallets that adopt the Bridge protocol.
Security Notes
Trezor Bridge only bridges local communication — your private keys never leave the hardware device. Always download Bridge from the official Trezor website, verify checksums/signatures where available, and keep your OS and antivirus definitions up to date.
Quick Install & Connect
- Download the correct installer for your OS from the official site.
- Run the installer and follow system prompts (on macOS, you may need to allow the app in Security & Privacy settings).
- Launch Trezor Suite or your compatible wallet; Bridge will be detected automatically.
- When prompted, connect your Trezor device via USB and confirm the connection on the device screen.
Advanced: troubleshooting tips
- If the device isn't detected, try a different USB cable or port and restart the Bridge service.
- On Windows, run the installer as Administrator if drivers are not installing.
- Check that no other applications are blocking USB access or the local HTTP port used by Bridge.
